Title:                           Senior Mining Engineer (Blasting)

Location:                    Western US, flexible

Summary –
Our client is a major company, with a very well-established global explosives business. 

We are helping them to identify a Senior Mining Engineer, for their new US operations. This person will work with the product and sales teams during all phases of project development, including customer field trials. This will be a home-office based role for the foreseeable future.

They will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  • Providing technical support to sales executives
  • Actively working with sales teams to understand and deliver on prospective customer’s requirements
  • Undertaking options analysis to continuously improve design and sequencing in blasting
  • Offering support, during customer’s site visits, undertaking technical evaluation; providing accurate and complete application information
  • Contributing to the development process for new product technology along with critical path scheduling from engineering design, manufacturing procedures, commissioning, and field demonstrations at customer sites
  • Reviewing and responding to customer-supplied commercial, technical, and safety specifications
  • Identifying areas where improvements in customer satisfaction can be made, communicating any issues and possible solutions to upper management
  • Acting as the liaison between key customers and production/sales teams, providing feedback, customer feature requests, and ideas for the product roadmap
  • Monitoring developments in industry technologies of potential benefit to the company


Qualifications/Experience etc.:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in the mining industry (including ‘hands on’ experience with detonators and explosives)
  • Strong network within the US mining business
  • Knowledge in chemical and mechanical engineering would be a bonus
  • Experience working in a mining operation with exposure to a broad spectrum of practical and technical areas
  • Proficient in the use of mine planning software
  • Enthusiastic, and self-driven person, who would relish the challenge of penetrating a new market for the company
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent safety record with the ability to demonstrate safety leadership
