JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for directing the safe execution of all mine operations activities. Provide guidance to crew shift supervisors and operations staff. Coordinate with technical services, mine maintenance, the process division, and the administrative division to achieve planned goals.
JOB RESPONSIBILITES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Develop and train front line supervisors 2. Help develop company safety standards 3. Drive a culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and high performance 4. Follow environmental standards 5. Establish and follow pit slope management practices 6. Monitor and control costs 7. Execute mine plans 8. Participate in the budgeting process 9. Achieve budget targets
Minimum Qualifications: 1. Leadership skills 2. Ability to communicate effectively 3. Experience supervising groups of employees 4. Experience directing the work of contractors
Knowledge: 1. Know capabilities of mobile mining equipment 2. Drilling and blasting practices including controlled drilling and blasting techniques utilizing electronic programmable detonators 3. Large-scale earth moving operations 4. Mine dewatering 5. Stormwater management Education: High school diploma or equivalent, College degree desirable
Experience: 1. Ten (10) years mining experience with progressively increased levels of responsibility 2. Familiar with MSHA regulations and ability to deal with regulatory entities Reasoning Ability: 1.
