The Mine Engineering Manager reports to the General Manager of the mine site and is responsible for the development of short, medium long-term mine plans. Responsible for managing all engineering activities within a department, including design, development, production, quality, and reclamation to final grade. In conjunction with the other department managers, is responsible for completing the mine budgets and incorporates into the mine plan to be submitted to the customer. Implements and maintains overall engineering objectives and initiatives. Confronts and solves performanceoperational issues to improve efficiency. Leads and develops the engineering team.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Development of short, medium and long-term plans to include pit progression, digging sequences, quality and equipment hours to accomplish plan
  • Develop and maintain appropriate geologic models and databases
  • Participate with mine operations, maintenance and the customer to improve efficiency
  • Monitoring and documenting mine operations and performance for verification of performing to plan and budget
  • Produce mine performance and KPI reports
  • Compile budget and incorporate into mine plans
  • Ensuing work is completed in accordance with applicable laws and company HSE policies

    Work Experience:

  • 2-5 years mine planning experience
  • 1-2 years engineering department manager
  • PE certification preferred 
  • Preference will be given to experience in dragline mining operations
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering Mining or Civil Degree preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:

  • Excellent communication, problem solving, organizational, teaming and leadership skills
  • Experience with planning software is an asset
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
  • AutoCAD experience is an asset
  • Able to work in United States
