Title: Senior Discipline Engineer – Civil/Structural

Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Summary – Our client is a well-regarded underground mine contracting and engineering company, providing mine development and production services worldwide.

We are helping them to identify a Senior Discipline Engineer for their office located south of Salt Lake City, Utah.

This individual will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  • Provide civil/structural design and engineering services on projects involving heavy steel and concrete construction/installation as they relate to underground mine shaft and associated surface/underground infrastructure
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines (Mechanical and Electrical)
  • Prepare specification and procurement packages
  • Provide engineering project management, supplier co-ordination and client communication
  • Check engineering drawings
  • Assist the contracting group with business development and tendering work/estimation
  • Sign and seal civil/structural drawings for construction purposes
  • Provide backup and support to the Lead Discipline Engineer – Civil/Structural during times of absence or when circumstances dictate
  • Provide engineering supervision of onsite construction of structural steel and concrete
  • Provide clients with engineering support and contractor supervision during initial surface and underground construction
  • Provide support to manager of technical services in ensuring drawings are completed on schedule
  • Provide guidance and supervision of junior discipline engineers
  • Review and analyze drawings for possible safety and constructability concerns prior to issue to clients and company operations group
  • Assist in the design of equipment and infrastructure used to complete underground work safely and efficiently
  • Provide internal and external clients with engineering solutions in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner

Qualifications/Experience required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years of engineering design experience in a heavy industrial setting (ideally mining)
  • Knowledge of state and federal mining acts and regulations is desirable
  • Registered Professional Engineer Licensed to Practice in the state of Utah would be ideal. Licensure in other jurisdictions with reciprocity will be considered
  • Skill using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), STAAD Pro 2006, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD
  • Successful track record working with external clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders
  • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
