Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Location: South Carolina

Summary – Our client is a mid-tier, multinational gold producer with significant operating, development and exploration experience. We are helping them to identify a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for their surface gold operation in South Carolina. This person will diagnose, repair and maintain heavy equipment used in construction and mining, such as, excavators, loaders, off highway trucks, dozers and motor graders.


They will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  • Perform preventive maintenance such as changing oil, greasing and replacing parts on a scheduled basis
  • Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose problems
  • Read and understand operation and service manuals, system schematics and technical drawings
  • Perform minor repairs to systems such as engines, transmissions, final drives, brakes, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical systems
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges
  • Remove and Replace components such as engines, transmission and final drives
  • Operate and test equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers specifications

Qualifications/Experience, etc.:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working on heavy equipment, preferably in the mining industry
  • Knowledge of transmissions, drive trains, hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Ability to diagnose faults of malfunctions to determine required repairs, using diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices, laptop computers and software supplied by equipment manufactures
  • Able and willing to work 12 hour rotating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
