This role will be responsible for day-to-day activities and management of the underground mine and well as technical related functions, including:

  • Mine planning, production and maintenance scheduling, mine infrastructure design, capital justification, and training
  • Working closely with personnel and outside consultants to further define the mineral resource and geologic model as necessary, and lead the development of a mine plan that will provide the basis for an economic evaluation and possible future mine development
  • Working closely with senior management in evaluating alternatives for deriving the maximum value for the project
  • The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to operations that may include stope designs, ground control plans, ventilation, utilities, production schedules, development schedules and various reports
  • Liaison with front line supervisors
  • Assist with supervision of contractors, surveyors etc
  • Able to work constructively with a Mine Planner/Engineer, Geologist, Metallurgist etc. to put together a Scoping/Mine Plan/Prefeasibility study
  • Ensure your work activities are conducted according to company Safety and Environmental standards


  • Minimum 10 years experience in underground hard rock mining and more than 20 years total operational experience
  • BS Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years on site experience in narrow vein mining
  • Experience in small mine development
  • Experience in underhand cut and fill stoping methods desired
  • Experience in rock mechanics and ground control techniques
  • Ability to initiate and complete analytical studies, and to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Experience in moving from a scoping to prefeasibility to a feasibility study –to design and project execution
  • Supervisory experience with both technical and non-technical personnel
  • Leadership skills including the ability to establish respect, trust and teamwork
  • Understanding of mine operational reality and analyze conflicting points of view
