Our client company is currently seeking a Project Manager to participate in the bidding process and, if awarded, be responsible for the management and execution of an underground mine development project in northwestern USA.  We are seeking candidates who are willing to be nominated in the proposal and for subsequent management and execution of the project. 


Position Summary:

The successful Project Manager will manage all aspects of project scope, schedule and budget for as well as all change management that is needed. A key responsibility is to ensure the project workforce is safely meeting performance targets by tracking, reporting, and communicating project progress and by following company and client reporting requirements, policies and procedures.


Responsibilities:

  • Achieve the financial, schedule and specification requirement of the project in accordance with the contract between parties
  • Management of all phases of projects, including action planning, complete budget and sub-contractor management
  • Be the point-of-contact and liaise with our company’s client to develop a strong working relationship and a win-win approach to the project
  • Understand the project contract deliverables and operate efficiently within the contract terms
  • Manage the project team and equipment resources to maximize project returns on investment
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance to all standards and regulations, and ensure deliverables are issued as required
  • Sourcing, securing and managing equipment and subcontractors as required
  • Produce reports to meet company and client reporting requirements
  • Perform the work in accordance with the rules and requirements of the client and regulators
  • Monitoring project milestones to ensure projects remain on time and on budget

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Minimum of 20 years’ experience in underground mining projects with 10 years in a senior management role
  • Must be able to work legally in the USA
  • B.Sc. in Mining Engineering or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Extensive knowledge of underground regulatory requirements and mine design
  • Proven ability to build teams and manage stakeholder relationships
  • Formal training in project management fundamentals is an asset (i.e. PMP certification)
  • Demonstrated track record of being a safety leader and delivering on underground mining projects
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, exceptional communication skills both written and spoken, high accuracy and attention to detail, results oriented. Comfortable in dealing with risk management and work pressures, with the ability to work independently
