Our client, a multi-mineral, multi-national company has an opening for Continuous Improvement Specialist. The purpose of this role is to achieve operational excellence in production, working with all site stakeholders and at all levels for continuous improvement to engineering, geology, mining, maintenance, milling and other processes influencing production performance. This roles will ensure a safe work environment, maximize profitability, drive quality improvements, and reduce operating costs, inventories, and lead times through the appropriate application of business improvement methodologies, transformation actions, and project management techniques. • Assess technical limits of given equipment and production processes, focusing on prioritized KPI set by mine
management in close collaboration with the engineering department
• Identify and quantify losses to technical limits on a continuous basis, gathering and evaluating objective and
reliable data, as well as setting up processes for the automation of data gathering and evaluation
• Interact with asset management (AM), ensuring data on equipment availability is aligned between production and AM
• Assess root causes of losses compared to technical limits and drive development of operational improvement
measures (organizational and technical)
• Conduct analyses in the field (such as time & motion studies, SMED), as well as desktop (such as bottleneck
analysis, load levelling)
• Facilitate in the field implementation of operational improvement measures, troubleshooting where needed
• Track improvement measure implementation progress and impact (in collaboration with Transformation Office)
• Prepare CI reports and attend, weekly meetings of Superintendent with General Manager (losses to technical
limits, root cause analysis of losses, measure development and implementation status, plan/fact comparisons,
• Maintain appropriate and current visual management information in designated areas of the mill
• Participate in the preparation of investment proposals, ensuring trade-off between organizational and technical
improvement levers (assessing upside available through reaching Full Potential of existing equipment versus
debottlenecking investments)

• B.S. in Chemical Engineering preferred, Metallurgical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering  will be considered
• Preferably 1-2 years of practical experience, preferably in mineral processing, metallurgical or mechanical industry.
• Basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite
• Background in Continuous Improvement a strong plus (such as certification in Lean Processing, Six Sigma belt)
• Strong analytical problem solving skills
• Demonstrated fundamental business acumen and ability to deliver against business cases’ budgets and time
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
