SUMMARY
- Initially, the main purpose of this position will be to work closely with the Vice President of Operations and the President to develop the US market.
- Once projects are established, the General Manager’s responsibilities will be to coordinate personnel, equipment and resources and manage the overall direction and coordination of the group through Area Managers.
- The General Manager is a key player in marketing, bidding and then overseeing the projects to successful conclusions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Health & Safety – Ensure that policies and procedures are established for production and implementation of safe systems of work, which will comply with relevant state health and safety legislation, codes of practices, guidance notes and company standing instructions, which will cover all aspects of the company’s operations in the US
- Environment – Ensure operations and proposals are in compliance with all applicable environment regulations
- Client Focus – Maintain a close working relationship with the Client and ensure direct, rapid and efficient communications on all aspects of project work.
- Business Development – Work closely with the Vice President of Operations to develop the annual business plan. Play an active role in the preparation of tenders and proposals
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Once established, the General Manager will be managing Area Managers who in turn will be managing respective US projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Mine Engineering degree preferred
- A minimum 10 years experience in underground mining operations
- Must have competent computer skills to operate in a modern office environment
- Must have strong decision making skills
- Must be able to organize effectively
- Must be able to communicate the vision and mission
- Must possess a strong understanding of mining and mineral processes
- Demonstrated ability to manage and develop multiple projects
- Strong communication skills
