Our clients strategic plan calls for maximizing the value of and revenue from its existing assets and accelerating the Company’s exploration and production activities, and is well capitalized to pursue these opportunities. The Company’s existing exploration, development and mining teams have a recognized track record of discovery, development and mining. Presently, our client employs around 1,250 people in four countries.
Summary:
The Company is seeking an experienced senior executive with both a technical and entrepreneurial background for the position of Chief Operating Officer.
The duties and responsibilities of the successful candidate include:
Management / Leadership
- Participating as a key member of the management team and lead the Company’s strategic technical, exploration, and geology efforts
- Leading, developing and retaining an efficient, world-class operating team capable of optimal exploration and exploitation of the Company’s resources
- Selecting, training, developing, leading and mentoring key departmental subordinates to ensure that operational deliverables consistently reach or exceed targets
- Overseeing and coordinating the Company’s employees, contractors, consultants and business partners in achieving exploration goals and identifying opportunities
- Ensuring full departmental compliance with corporate community affairs requirements and contributing at a strategic level with the generation and implementation of community and sustainable development policies
- Ensuring full departmental compliance with internal controls
- Providing support for Board meetings and liaising regularly with the CEO, CFO and other senior management on management matters
- Ensuring timely and effective communication with staff and senior management, through site meetings, summary weekly reports, technical data for press releases and internal technical reports as deemed necessary
Technical
- Critically analyze and evaluate the existing processes and operations, and develop and implement a strategic and operational plan to move the operations forward in the short term to the next level of efficiency
- Overseeing resource development programs, operating plans and policies, schedules and budgets to maximise optimal production and progress the Company’s properties to final feasibility and production
- Supervising and co-ordinating resource and reserve estimations in compliance with NI 43-101/JORC requirements
- Overseeing the progress of permitting, geology, plant design, expansion and operation, keeping senior management and the Board apprised of developments, providing input and making recommendations to senior management and the Board on feasibility studies and the timeline of construction and operations
- Reviewing additional land acquisitions for facilities, buffer or exploration
- Working with permitting team and geology exploration team to ensure timeliness of deliverables to meet project goals and objectives
- Monitoring and reporting performance against budgeted targets
- Coordinating mine planning and operations to ensure optimal long term business outcome
Experience/Qualifications:
- The successful candidate will possess 15-20 or more years of operating and leadership experience at an executive level (preferably with experience in public mining companies in both an exploration and development capacity and in third world countries), will have strong operational, management, implementation and interpersonal skills and be culturally [aware/sensitive].
- We need a strong and experienced leader, capable of successfully designing and effecting organizational change, one who is a team player comfortable working together with the executive team. He/she will also be a collaborative team builder who has demonstrated the ability to build and nurture an early stage organization into a more established mid-tier mining platform.
- The individual will have strong business financial acumen and be capable of understanding how to capitalize on growth opportunities while building on organic growth. He will have demonstrated experience in project acquisition and evaluation. The individual will be an effective, confident communicator who can present his ideas in a concise and organized manner. The individual will demonstrate interpersonal flexibility, initiative, innovation, perseverance and integrity. He will work with a sense of urgency, in a professional and enthusiastic manner with a positive participative attitude toward company goals and objectives.
