The Assistant Controller reports directly to the Corporate Controller and is responsible for preparing monthly consolidations for internal management financial reports, as well as preparing quarterly consolidations for external reporting purposes. This position also is responsible for managing the intercompany management fee billing and reporting process.  In addition, the Assistant Controller will also be responsible for development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures and internal controls related to the accounting and finance function. This position is also responsible for the direct supervision of the Denver-based accounting staff, and interfaces with Business Unit financial personnel on a recurring basis.

 

In this position you will:

 

  • Perform monthly corporate consolidation for internal reporting
  • Interface with Business Unit controllers as needed to ensure timely and accurate information is provided
  • Prepare monthly senior management/board-level financial reports
  • Perform quarterly corporate consolidation for external reporting
  • Be responsible for overseeing accounting policies & procedures and internal controls (design, implement, monitor, enhance)
  • Supervise Denver-based accounting personnel (currently 2), including transaction approval, GL reconciliation review and other procedures
  • Develop and manage the intercompany billing process to ensure timely billing, collection and reconciliations of balances
  • May train staff on internal control procedures
  • Assist with quarterly and annual audit/review preparation
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

 

Assistant Controller requirements:

 

  • CPA or CA preferred
  • Mining industry experience a must
  • Previous system implementation/integration skills strongly preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP (IFRS)
  • Public Company reporting experience and experience working in exploration and/or producing mining industry
  • Strong Excel skills experience, financial analysis experience and supervisory experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity
  • Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation
  • International consolidation/ accounting systems experience is a plus
  • NI 52-109/SOX and systems experience is a plus
  • Job requirements include up to 25% foreign travel
