Summary: Our client operates a well established open pit gold mine, situated SW of the town of Winnemucca, Nevada. We are working with them to identify a Senior Metallurgist – Laboratory.
The Senior Metallurgist is responsible for, but not limited to the following:
- Performance of the laboratory, including sample preparation, assaying and metallurgical testing, refinery settlements assays and metal balance.
- Implementing metallurgical test work, record keeping and all necessary actions to optimize gold production.
- Metal security programs and procedures
- Engineering, design and project management of special projects related to leaching and the process plant.
- Developing plans, operating and capital estimates and support documentation as required for annual and life of project budgeting and for special projects as assigned.
- Coordinating and reconciling final refinery assays settlements with the metal refiner and providing formal results to the General Manager/Process Superintendent and the Controller. Monitoring results for trends and quality assurance.
Qualifications/Experience etc:
- B. S. Degree in metallurgy, chemical engineering or closely related field.
- Minimum of ten years experience in metallurgical work including hands on experience with a variety of analytical assay techniques, metallurgical testing processes and procedures, precious metal carbon recovery plants and systems, metal refinery processes and procedures
- Minimum of five years related management experience with demonstrated success in planning and coordinating, production, maintenance, budgeting, personnel and related management and administrative duties.
- Hands on experience and proven track record developing and implementing metallurgical programs for performance related recovery and environmental projects
- Personal computer skills with spread sheets and word processing
- Able to work in the USA without company sponsorship
