Senior Mine Engineer

Summary: Our client is engaged in the exploration, development and production of gold in the United States. We are working with them to identify a Mine Geologist for a new underground mine located near Winnemucca, Nevada and scheduled to begin production by January 2012.

Reporting to the Mine General Manager, the Senior Mine Engineer is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

• Design of underground mine development, blasting systems, ventilation systems, ground support systems, production stopes and haulage systems
• Mine planning activities for both short term and long term
• Resource modeling, resource and reserve estimates
• Directing and supervising other mine engineers, geologist and surveyors
• Optimizing the extraction of mineralized zones, whilst minimizing dilution
• Managing on site contractors & consultants
• Coordinating ore control activities, sorting of ore types and tracking ore stockpile quantities and quality with mine operations, with the mine geologist.
• Preparation of daily, monthly and yearly production reports
• Developing and managing budgets

Qualifications/Experience etc:

• BS Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum of 6 years experience in underground hard rock mining
• Minimum of 5 years on site experience in narrow vein mining & back filling
• Minimum of 2 years on site experience in narrow vein mining & back filling
• Experience in underhand cut and fill stoping methods
• Experience in mine ventilation, rock mechanics & ground control techniques
• Proficient in resource modeling & designing of UG mine development
• Capable of utilizing latest computer & software technologies such as Microsoft office products, CAD software, and mining programs such as Vulcan, Surpac, MineSite, Gemcom or Datamine
• Supervisory experience with both technical and non technical personnel
