Summary: Our client is a top ranked mining company with operations worldwide. Well placed in the buoyant Australian Coal market, they are seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to take up this key role in their Longwall Mine development team. Reporting directly to the COO – Longwall Innovation & Development , this person will drive the development of future cutting edge underground technology.
The Manager Longwall Technology Research and Development will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:
- Identify underground technology trends and innovations
- Establish the business case for future underground technologies that are believed to be practically feasible
- Establish and manage relationships with technology partners and research institutes
- Guide the focus of research and development projects
- Lead research project teams as required
- Provide regular feedback to Senior Management on research and development progress
- Collaborate with academic and technology partners to research new cutting-edge technology
Qualifications/Experience etc:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) or equivalent
- Minimum of 10 years Longwall operating experience at a mine site
- Previous experience in a research role and an innovative approach to solving engineering problems
- A track record of building and developing strong relationships with academic and technology partners
- A very strong interest in emerging technologies and their practical application within the mining industry
