Summary: Our client is engaged in the exploration, development and production of gold in the United States. We are working with them to identify a Mine Geologist for a new underground mine located near Winnemucca, Nevada and scheduled to begin production by January 2012.
Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, the Mine Geologist is responsible for, but not limited to the following:
- Day to day management of the underground mine ore control activities such as grade control, dilution minimization, ore sorting etc.
- Production infill drilling, geologic interpretation, and delivering production data & reports
- Tracking ore stockpile quantities and quality
- Resource modeling and resource estimates and assisting with short and long term mine planning
- Overseeing geotechnical data and assisting in ground control design and procedures for underground mine development and production stopes
Qualifications/Experience etc:
- BS Degree in Geology, Geologic Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years experience in underground hard rock mining
- Minimum of 2 years on site experience in narrow vein mining & back filling
- Experience in underhand cut and fill stoping methods
- Experience in geotechnical mapping, rock mechanics, ground control techniques, related analysis and design
- Proficient in resource modeling & designing of UG mine development
- Capable of utilizing latest computer & software technologies such as Microsoft office products, CAD software, and mining programs such as Vulcan, Surpac, MineSite, Gemcom or Datamine.
- Supervisory experience with both technical and non technical personnel
